A Christmas Party for a Cause Benefiting Children's Home Society of Miami

Ok, so it's not happening in Hialeah but it's still a good cause!

Established in 1902, Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) is one of Florida’s oldest private not-for-profit organizations providing services to children and families.

They're asking that you please donate $20 at the door, which provides new clothing and shoes for a neglected child. Your donation will make many homeless abused Children in Miami Dade very happy and grateful!

The fantastic Christmas Party will be full of entertainment, music, dancing, awesome raffle and a lot of Twitter Fun with special WCG_TJ on site! There will also be a "Step & Repeat" for all of the fun social photos!

Happy Thanksgiving Hialeah

Dear Hialeah,

Today I am thankful for you. You give me an endless amount of material to blog about on a daily basis. Your colorful spirit is unique and there's no city quite like you.

Thank you for your loud neighbors that remind me I am never alone. Thank you for your street vendors who always have a snack or treat readily available to me. Thank you for your nosy residents who ensure my neighborhood remains safe and my house will never be broken into. Thank you for your colorful houses, creative signs and interesting vehicles.

Thank you for your unexpected and impromptu entertainment that always makes me smile and sometimes makes me shake my head. Thank you for law breakers, insane traffic, crazy parking and your beautiful fountains. Most of all, thank you for everyone who loves Hialeah and visits our blog regularly, our contributors, our friends and fans and those who give us shout outs.

Though you aren't Weston or Coral Gables I do feel blessed to live in Hialeah and I'm thankful for you. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Challenged in Hialeah

Today I was challenged in Hialeah (where else?), which is a good thing. I was making my rounds this morning taking some photos of some typical Hialeah houses and a neighbor flagged me down. He wanted to know why I was taking photos and let me know that he didn't feel it was right since residences are private. Noted, but, I was on the street. Technically, public property. I'm not complainin' it was nice to see a neighbor lookin' out. What if I were, like, casing houses or something?

Next time, I'll be sure to take photos in the afternoon when people aren't all up in my business right before they head out the door to work. You'd think people would be happy about their 15 minutes of fame. LOL
