Hialeah Has a New Rap Song
There's no better way to kick off the weekend that with a little booty shakin, body bouncin' music.
This one may become our new theme song. I listened to it at least 3 times this morning while Juana was doing the "one leg up." Big thanks to Turbo22 The Hialeah Expatriate, yo!

In my city it gets hotter everyday
And we got the baddest chickies in the county of Dade
And all the Hialeah chicos down here got a fade
And if you ask me what I'm sippin' on?
Batido de mamey
And you know we celebrate, yeah we party todo el dia
It don't matter what the reason is, We make a caja china
Congri con lechon and a side of yuca frita
Everybody got a grandma que no habla, solo grita
Eso nadie se lo quita, chusmeria never stops
And them Cuban OG's shop in their tank tops
Y jugando domino ellos siempre salen fajado
And at least one person you know was on caso cerrado
Yeah and when it comes to driving WE DA BEST
People driving while their texting on their Metro PCS
And if you see a bad chick, honk when you pass her
Acere in my city, yellow means go faster,
This is a true story, no question
Churros and flowers at every intersection
And if you don't believe me and you wanna make sure
You just hop on the Palmetto and get off on 103rd!
(Johnny)
Y entro yo, el Johnny de Hialeah
Se forma aqui, pero TODO los dias
I'm a Beast, eso's lo que dicen las mujeres
Y si tu quieres algo mami, come on and get it
H.I.A., it's where I stay, it's where I lay
H.I. H.I.A., where we don't got no time for games
And if you wanna play, I'll let you play just by yourself
But girl if you want to hit me up, c'mon and bring somebody else
Tag Tag Team
OYEEEE!
Pero que locura
Ven aca mamita
No te hagas la dura

Hialeah Quacks Me Up
You may have missed the news but Miami Dade's Cluck Busters are no more. What's that? You didn't even know Miami Dade had a unit to track down, catch and relocate these fine feathered friends? They did and over the last 7 years they caught over 16,000.
Now, with the program cancelled due to budget cuts, Hialeah and the rest of Miami Dade county is overrun with chickens, roosters, ducks and more. It's estimated these two legged little lice carriers are affecting over 30,000 citizens all over the Miami-Dade county. They're a major code violation but good luck getting anyone to help you solve the problem. Local 10 ran a recent story on the chicken situation but in the end the reporter had to get resolution on her own.
The biggest problem for Code Enforcement is knowing who to fine. Because these fowl roam free for the most part, it's hard to prove who owns them. (Perhaps we can help in that area by snapping photos of where they are and directing code enforcement to their door. je je je)

Chickens, ducks and roosters really are taking over Hialeah. No wonder people compare us to a third world country. Won't someone help?
Here's just one video of chickens gone wild.

Don't Suck Anything While You're in a Car
What would we do without our readers? This little gem comes from Dayngr who was cruising on the Palmetto, right past Hialeah, when she saw this girl who was driving and sucking her thumb. Perhaps she dropped her tete.
Here's a tip: If you're old enough to drive, you probably shouldn't be sucking your thumb. (Note: En serio, don't suck anything in a car - you know what I'm referring to chongas!)

Taking Your Life in Your Hands in Hialeah
This is one of those classics that you only see in Hialeah.
If you've ever driven through Hialeah, you know that driving there is insane. Forget traffic, I'm talking about how everyone drives like a maniac and the fact most drivers don't have insurance.
So knowing this and driving there is crazy - even though you're protected to a degree in your own car. But you'd have to be really crazy to ride una bicicleta there - especially though a parking lot where it's total chaos and confusion. That is taking your life in your hands.

Bring Business Back to Hialeah
Perfumania - gone. Sally's Beauty Supply - gone. Joyeria - gone. Another set of abandoned store fronts in Hialeah. It's things like this that make Hialeah look so rundown.
If Hialeah is going to make a comeback then one of the first places they need to start cleaning up is the plaza with Kohls in it. That section of businesses is run down, ugly and in need of some attention.
Didn't Mayor Julio Robaina say he was going to work on getting big business to take a look at our lovely Hialeah? Oye, Julio, start here bro.

Cabana Coaches Breaks the Law in Hialeah
Here are two Cabana Coaches driving down East 43rd Street even though there is a No Thru Trucks sign. Maybe the bus drivers can't read English?
We had to follow up on this one sent in to us by a reader. You know we have a pet peeve with people who break the law in Hialeah. It seems that the people over at Cabana Coaches are law breakers who can't follow directions or read English either. Yeah, we're calling you idiotas out.
Cabana Coaches keeps driving their buses all through residential areas in Hialeah where there are NO THRU TRUCK signs posted. We decided to follow up on this though it was sent in by a loyal reader and sure enough, the dispatcher at Cabana Coaches was as clueless as his drivers.
When we alerted him to the fact that his buses were driving though residential areas that had No thru Truck postings his response was "but that is for trucks only." When we explained to him that the law is based on how many axels a vehicle has, and asked him how many axels the buses have he didn't have any idea. He only responded "they aren't trucks." Estúpido!
This is one we'll be forwarding on to Mayor Julio Robaina's office and the Hialeah Police Department for follow up.
Hey, we're just trying to do our small part to help.
If you're interested in calling or writing them and giving them a piece of your mind (if you can spare it) they're at:

Hialeah Loves Its Fountains
We love our fountains in Hialeah. Here's a sampling of fountains we found caminando through Hialeah.
As you can see, some are a little more elaborate than others. The ones with the pineapple on top seem to be the most popular but we've found some with birds on top and umbrellas too.
We had so much fun with these that we're going to share a few more we found a little later on. Who knows, maybe we'll make this a series too. Just wait until you see the mermaid we found. Loco!
